CHESHIRE — After renovating a former pizza restaurant, a catering company is offering prepared soups, entrees and other foods for customers on the go at their Highland Avenue location.
Perfectly Prepared Gourmet to Go, 1410 Highland Ave., is a venture of Riverhouse Hospitality. The company has been using the kitchen of the former Cugino’s Restaurant for the past three years as a central location for its statewide catering operations.
Perfectly Prepared had a soft opening last week and a grand opening Thursday. Trevor Furrer, a managing partner of Riverhouse Hospitality, said they’ve already expanded hours later into the evening.
“It was quiet in the morning. People who were working late and looking to heat up good food at home were coming by after we were closed,” Furrer said. The company is now open until 7 p.m. on weeknights and he said 6 to 7 p.m. is their busiest hour.
On Thursday, Cheshire Chamber of Commerce President Yetta Augur picked up vegetable and chicken entrees. While working near the shoreline, Augur often picked up similar prepared meals from a business but her job no longer takes her that way. She expects Cheshire will be a good market for such a service.
“This is a great addition to our community to get fast, healthy foods,” Augur said. “It’s great for young families on the go.”
The former dining room and bar of Cugino’s has been removed and replaced with refrigerated displays for food. Tables line the front glass windows for eat-in customers. Furrer said Perfectly Prepared will add menu items as they’re requested by visitors.
“We always say to people, ‘If you don’t see what you want, ask for it,’” he said.
Riverhouse Hospitality runs The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station in Haddam and The Society Room of Hartford and also provides catering at locations such as the New Britain Museum of American Art.
In the spring, Furrer said the company may do tent events, such as barbecue, in the building’s parking lot.
“We’ll have even more surprises for people,” he said.
